What is Stop and Help?

Stop and Help is a Dubai-based community group that connects UAE-based families in need with people who want to help, called givers. We call it a Kindness Exchange. Stop and Help is run entirely by volunteers.

Who can apply for support?

If you’re a family in need, you can apply to be matched with a giver if you meet certain criteria.
The criteria are:
You live in the UAE.
You have one or more children under the age of 6 living with you in the UAE.
You have lost your income as a result of Covid-19.
You can be a mother, father, grandparent, aunt or uncle.

Who can’t we help?

Single people or couples without children. Children are among the most vulnerable in society and Stop and Help has identified them as the focus of support.
Families with children living in other countries.
Families who still have some income.

What kind of support can I expect?

Groceries, and baby items such as formula and nappies/diapers. Givers are encouraged to send at least our suggested basic food items that will feed a family for a week, plus any specific requests for formula and nappies/diapers.
No financial support is ever offered and this should not be requested.

How can I apply?

Fill in this ​form​.
Fill it in once per household – multiple applications will be rejected.
Complete all the information, otherwise we cannot process your application. Make sure your contact details, including your address and phone, are correct so that deliveries are not delayed.

How do I show that I need help?

When filling in the form, you will be asked to upload supporting documents. These will include you and your children’s Emirates IDs and confirmation of your loss of income.

What happens next?

Our team verifies each application. If your application fits the criteria, you will be added to the list of families waiting to be matched with a giver.

How long will I have to wait?

We have many families in need, and we are working all the time to find givers who can offer their support. This can take time, so we ask for your patience.

What happens when I am matched with a giver?

You will receive an email from the Stop and Help team informing you that you have been matched. You will not know the name of your giver but they will receive your contact details and will arrange to send you their support.

How will I know if support is coming?

All communication goes through Stop and Help. Givers let us know when a delivery is booked, and we pass that information to you.

What happens next?

If you have any messages for your giver, such as messages and photos of thanks, please send them as a reply to the last email you received from Stop and Help. We pass on all messages.

Can I post my thanks on the Stop and Help Facebook group?

Please feel free to share your messages, photos and videos. However please do not post any personal details, such as the name of your giver, if you are aware of it.

How many times will I be helped, and what if I need more support after that?

Stop and Help will guarantee that once matched, you will receive one week of support. If we are able to provide more and your circumstances are eligible, we shall advise you. If, after you receive your last groceries, you still need help, you are welcome to apply again.

What if I don’t need support anymore?

That’s great! The goal of Stop and Help is to get people back on their feet. If you are in a position to support your family again, please let us know so that we can redirect the support to another family in need. There are many waiting.

What if my contact details change?

Email us IMMEDIATELY with your new details. This is very important to ensure any prompt delivery

What if I am matched, but I don’t receive a delivery?

Sometimes givers are not able to fulfil their offer of support. If you don’t get details of a delivery after 48 hours, please contact us by email so we can follow up with your giver.

What if I don’t hear back after filling in the form?

Please be patient. Stop and Help is a volunteer-run organisation and we verify every request for help. We will be in touch to let you know if we can help.

How can Stop and Help be contacted?

In order to manage all of the communications, applications must be made via this ​form and any follow-up queries or messages to the giver should be sent by email, in reply to the emails that have been sent to you
